How long have you been with the RCMP?

Two years. I started in 2022 next door in the Intel program. I was an administrative assistant for the manager of the criminal analysis section and then I did an acting assignment in Intelex.

Did you ever have any interest in law enforcement prior to working at the RCMP?

No. I went to school for environmental and health studies, so completely unrelated. At the time, I was searching for all the jobs I would be qualified for. I saw the original support job posting on the Government of Canada site and I thought: “RCMP—that would be cool!” So, I applied.

What do you like about your job?

I like working in a law enforcement environment and being on the administrative side. And in Intelex it’s both administrative and operational. There are times when a member will reach out and tell you the information you sent them actually really helped push forward an investigation. I feel like I made a difference. So, I appreciate getting that bigger perspective.

What does your day look like?

We mostly deal with databases so doing operational checks for our own members or administrative checks for other municipal police forces. We maintain those databases by uploading or removing information to keep records up to date.

Do you envision yourself staying with the RCMP until retirement?

I’d love to stay with the RCMP. I really like it. I don’t know what will happen, but I always see positions popping open here or across Canada. And I think it would be interesting to stay in this position with the opportunities I’ve already been provided and seeing what could be there in the future.
