Physical fitness is a necessity for everyone at the RCMP. Marie-Pier is responsible for developing fitness programs at the RCMP in Montreal. She ensures that the training regimen prepares officers for all the realities of the job, and helps to maintain the physical and mental health of all employees.

We have a physical test under our program that ensures our police officers stay fit for work. Our program helps to support and engage and prepare the Force to maintain that physical standard so they’re “ready for duty”.

I like to think today that we are important to the organisation and especially for the specialised units because we’re the ones who administer the physical tests.

For example, for the ERT, the Emergency Response Teams, riot troops, VIT, PMBD, [etc]

So we’re the ones who are trained, who have the certifications to deploy them.
