What do you do for work?
Christine: My day-to-day job is to make sure the system is working properly. I check transactions, I help other sections if they’re having trouble submitting requests and the rest of the time I deal with statistics. Lots of statistics!
We’re the intermediary between the vendor managing the system and the transactions performed. Without us, the first time there was a problem the structure would break down, with very serious consequences.
What do you feel is rewarding about your job?
Derek: As system analysts, we take great pride in making the machine run and maintaining a pristine database. We add the proper information into the system to ensure its efficiency, and we really enjoy the problem-solving aspect of the job. The integrity of the work coming in and the work coming out is paramount to us. And, of course, contributing to solving crime is also an amazing feeling.
Would you say you are perfectionists?
Christine: It depends on what it is. We are more detail-oriented than perfectionists. We quickly identify potential mistakes and fix them.
