What is your job?
I work with files received through the National Child Exploitation Crime Center (NCECC). My responsibility is to carefully process and input critical details—such as names, IP addresses, and locations—ensuring that every piece of information is accurately captured from the start. Once that initial intake is complete, the file is passed to an analyst for further examination.
From there, officers take over, conducting in-depth investigative work—piecing together evidence, identifying individuals involved, and building cases that can stand in court. My role is to ensure they have a solid and reliable foundation to work from.
The information we receive comes from a wide range of platforms, including Snapchat, Reddit, Instagram, Facebook, and other social media or communication channels—even gaming platforms like Xbox. Content involving the exploitation of minors is often automatically flagged by these platforms and reported to the NCECC, which then distributes those reports to us for action.
In addition to this work, I also contribute to the Internet Child Exploitation Unit, Financial Crime Unit and manage a variety of administrative responsibilities, including financial coordination, fleet management, and office operations.
What do you like about your job?
I genuinely love what I do. Every day brings something new, and I’ve gained an incredible amount of knowledge through this experience. It’s meaningful work—challenging at times but deeply rewarding.
I’ve always had a strong interest in policing, and being part of this environment has been incredibly fulfilling. The team I work with is supportive and compassionate, which makes a significant difference given the seriousness of the work we handle.

Is this work only in New Brunswick?
This unit serves as the largest of its kind in Atlantic Canada, but its focus is solely on cases within New Brunswick. Despite its regional scope, the impact of the work is significant, contributing to broader efforts to combat child exploitation across the country and internationally.
